Recreation
Outdoor recreation is an essential part of the Hopewell culture. Almost all residents of Hopewell Junction NY enjoy Hudson Valley hiking, particularly on the Appalachian Trail which runs through the neighboring town of East Fishkill NY. Hudson Valley tourism is booming due to the natural splendor in and around the Hudson River.
There are a number of lakes in the Hopewell area including Walton Lake and Sylvan Lake that allow tourists and residents to fish, swim and take out their boat. Near the center of Hopewell are several renowned golf courses such as the Dogwood Golf Center and the Branton Woods Golf Course. Baseball in Hopewell is another popular pastime.
History buffs are in luck when traveling to Dutchess County, the home of Franklin D Roosevelt National Historic Site, James Baird State Park, Norrie State Park, and Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site.
As if the scores of wineries, antique shops, parks and historical sites in Dutchess County weren't enough recreation, residents of Hopewell are just 10 from the city of Poughkeepsie and an hour from New York City. Location in upstate New York doesn't get much better than Hopewell Junction.
